Friends World Committee for Consultation

FWCC’s mission: Answering God's call to universal love. FWCC brings Friends of varying traditions and cultural experiences together in worship, communications, and consultation, to express our common heritage and our Quaker message to the world.

The New York Yearly Meeting committee supports and publicizes activities of FWCC.

  1. Conferences and gatherings:
    • World gatherings (formerly triennial meetings): the next one will take place in Nairobi, Kenya August 13–21, 2012.
    • Section of the Americas annual meeting, with speakers, reports, business sessions, workshops, committee meetings. FWCC is developing a separate Young Adult Friends program which will run parallel with the Section of the Americas annual meeting March 18–21, 2010, in the Baltimore area. Each member yearly meeting sends representatives to the annual meeting and the world gathering.
    • The eight regions U.S. regions and Latin America hold regional conferences, usually annually, to make FWCC more widely known.
  2. Quaker Youth Pilgrimage:
    • A biennial gathering of young Friends (16–18 years old ) who travel to historical Quaker sites in Europe or the U.S. and explore their common roots and different traditions through worship, discussion, and service.
  3. COAL—Committee of Latin American Friends:
    • COAL sponsors workshops and publications in order to support communities of Spanish-speaking Friends in South, Central, and North America.
  4. Quaker UN Office ( QUNO):
    • This program in New York City works to bring a Quaker voice to the global community.
  5. Wider Quaker Fellowship:
    • A free literature ministry that sends publications in Spanish and English to interested people of any faith, isolated individuals, and prisoners
