Quaker History

In 1642 at age 19, George Fox went forth to find answers the Church of England did not supply.  In his travels he found others who were also seeking.

Quakerism (The Religious Society of Friends) grew as George Fox and others shared their search for Spiritual Truth.

Our life is love, and peace,
and tenderness;
and bearing one with another,
and forgiving one another;
and not laying accusations
one against another;
but praying one for another,
and helping one another up
with a tender hand.”
                         —Isaac Penington, 1667

Friends have been  meeting in New Paltz since the 19th century. The dream of  having our own meetinghouse became a reality when Jeanne Rosenfield bequeathed her house to the Meeting. We have been worshiping in this meetinghouse and sharing it with others since 1991.
