Youth Ministry
Welcome! Especially to young Quakers and interested friends and seekers between the ages of 11-18. This is your place on the NYYM website.
As Quakers, we know that our lives are deeply rooted in our meetings and that, over time, we begin participating more in the wider Quaker community. As Quakers, we are familiar with the testimonies which call us to live peaceful lives, deeply concerned about equality, tolerance, right sharing of resources (live simply that others may simply live) and sustainability. We know that we are called to listen to people of all ages with love and compassion and seek out and support the gifts of ministry in every person.
But make no mistake, at the same time, Quakers, young and old, love to laugh, sing, and dance for joy! The following links will take you to places of learning, growth, opportunities for service and, yes, great fun. We invite you to explore the resources offered here, enjoy your journey and be in touch with us with your ideas and suggestions on how to make these pages even better.

Youth Service Opportunities Project
This Quaker-founded nonprofit matches individuals and organizations with meaningful, high-quality volunteer service experiences. Since 1983, by participating in YSOP workcamps and programs, thousands of young people and adults have experienced what it is like to be part of the solution to societal problems rather than sit on the sidelines.
Youth & Militarism Project (AFSC)
Learn how you can be more informed and more engaged in reducing the influence and impact of war and undue military intrusion into the lives of young people. This nation-wide Quaker-grounded program offers trainings, workshops and opportunities to work for a culture of peace rather than war as well as help for individuals, both civilian and military, seeking to understand better their inner promptings and rights as conscientious objectors.
