Fourth, Fifth, and Sixth Grades Epistle
Seventh month 2008
On Monday, the first day of JYM began with a game of Fruit Bowl.
Then, we were introduced to a week long project, in the morning when we arrived; we painted a little bit of a cardboard peach. Later, Leigh Strimbeck visited us with some drama games. As Leigh walked out the door, Chris and Mike came swinging from the ceiling with a community storm, 2 balls, and an affirmation circle.
On Tuesday, we had Original Play and laughed all through the day. We also had a lot of fun hanging around in the sun. We gathered into small groups and discussed the S.P.I.C.E.S. We played What Are You Doing? while asking ourselves, “Where is our snack?”
On Wednesday it rained throughout the whole day. We wished that the rain would stop for it was our beach day. But the rain could never take our fun away. We did arts and craft while listening to “James and the Giant Peach.” We played tons of fun games like, Big Wind Blows and Snake in the Grass.
Thursday was our day! The group chose to go to archery. We split into two groups. One group played Steal the Bacon while the other group learned about archery; after 45 minutes the groups switched activities. We enjoyed being with the Silver Bay community.
On Friday the sun finally came out We gathered together played Molly’s game and Big Wind Blows, finished our painting, and worked on the Epistle. Bill Gavin came to visit us. He talked to us about Conscientious Objection. We rolled down the hill and landed in the Boathouse for singing and worship. The whole JYM Community was there.
