Funds to which Individuals and Meetings May Apply

Trust funds to which individuals may apply

  • Stevens—for Friends in need through age or disability; under the care of Ministry and Pastoral Care Committee.
  • Sufferings—for support of Friends suffering because of an act of conscience.
  • Lindley Murray Fund—for the education of African Americans and North American First Nation peoples, for Quaker publications, and "to assit and relieve the poor . . . " Under the care of the Trustees of the Lindley Murray Fund.
  • Witness Activities Fund—for the support of montly meetings pursuing witness ministries. Individuals led to undertake a witness activity are expected to apply through their local meetings; under the care of Witness Coordinating Committee.
  • Committees with funds—Individuals may also recommend recipients for grants to committees that manage the disbursement of various Trustee-managed funds. These include:
    • Barrington Dunbar Fund for Black Development—for scholarships for students of color.
    • Black Concerns—for purposes discerned by the committee using various funds.
    • Indian Affairs—for purposes discerned by the committee using various funds.
    • Prisons Committee—for purposes discerned by the committee using various funds.
    • World Ministries—for purposes discerned by the committee using various funds.

Trust funds to which meetings may apply

  • Brinkerhoff and Lafayette Funds—for building and repairing meetinghouses; under the care of the NYYM Trustees.
  • Lindley Murray—for the needs of African Americans and First Nation peoples; under the care of the Trustees of the Lindley Murray Fund.
  • Witness Activities Fund—for the support of montly meetings pursuing witness ministries. These ministries may be the meeting's embrace of an individual Friend's witness leading. ; Under the care of Witness Coordinating Committee.

Trust funds no longer accepting grant requests

  • Income from these funds now go directly into the operating fund.

Stevens Funds

What: For support of Quaker pastors and ministers in retirement or with disabilities.

Applying: Apply to the Ministry and Pastoral Care Committee.

Sufferings Fund

What: For Friends in need because of an act of conscience.

Lindley Murray Fund

What: for aid to African Americans and First Nation peoples. These grants are usually directed to a specific organization or project supported by the requester but the Lindley Murray trustees make those decisions.

Witness Activities Fund

The Witness Activities Fund receives a percentage of the Sharing Fund income, which comprises both contributions from individuals and monthly meetings, and income from its endowment. Grants from the Witness Activitis Fund are allocated by Witness Coordinating Committee.

What: For support of Friends pursuing witness ministry.

Applying: Apply to Witness Coordinating Commjittee.
